Herpesviruses install a lifelong program to alter cell behavior.
Two can play at that game.

How does it work?
-
There are tens of thousands of HSV genomes available from the National Library of Medicine. Reading the DNA gives us insight on how to inhibit HSV reactivation.
-
Using advanced techniques, we can design a suite of RNA species which cover X% of HSV genomes in a given strain. Cross referencing our anti-HSV gene with human DNA lets us avoid collateral inhibition of host cell processes.
-
The viral genes involved in reactivation of HSV are the root cause of recurring symptoms. By blocking these, genes we can stop future symptoms.
-
Nature already has a perfect solution to this problem. We can copy/paste the HSV capsid so that it can deliver anti-HSV genes instead of viral instructions. The anti-HSV gene should persist for life, suppresing HSV reactivation.
